Will We Ever See the Chorlton Cycleway?

Will We Ever See the Chorlton Cycleway?

UPDATE (07/08/19):

Councillors are due to convene during August and September to discuss the revised plans. In the meantime, keep writing to your local councillors to outline the importance of this scheme for active travel and healthy living in the area.

In the week when TFGM boasted of its new CYCLOPS junction design, the likelihood of seeing it on the Chorlton Cycleway seems to be diminishing by the day.

After the extended consultation period closed earlier this year, Manchester City Council promised to review the responses, model alternative options and publish a recommendations report in “June or July”. As of this morning (Thursday 1 August), the report is still not available on MCC’s website and there is no update on timescales.

The pace of progress on this scheme is in stark contrast to the ability to quickly force through road schemes, such as the planned works on Great Ancoats Street, and signals a continuing lack of commitment to the Bee Network and the recently declared Climate Emergency from MCC.
